Festive menswear since 1916
WILVORST Herrenmoden GmbH can look back on a long history which has been rich in tradition. Since 1916 WILVORST has stood for fashion - in the meantime the company has become the market leader for festive menswear and formal wear in Europe. We deliver our products even to the United Arab Emirates, the Carribean, Africa and Australia. That's why our slogan is 'At home in Germany and all over the world'. With our 'history' section we'd like to show you more of our over 100 years old history.
Foundation
WILVORST was founded in Szczecin in 1916. In that year Wilhelm Vordemfelde took over the company from his former employer in Szczecin and soon changed the name to WILVORST after his name and the city of Stettin (Szczecin) WILhelm VORdemfelde STettin. Right from the start the goals had been high-quality fabrcis and excellent staff.
Years of beginning
In 1929 / 1930 Wilhelm Vordemfelde had a new factory building constructed on Turner street in Szczecin. The modern concept allowed for the first time a production based on the division of labour. This was the basis of a functional, cost-efficient and high-quality production. In 1945 WILVORST had to leave Szczecin.
POSTWAR YEARS
In 1946 Wilhelm Vordemfelde and 50 staff members moved from Szczecin to Northeim near Göttingen. In the following years his nephew Friedrich-Wilhelm Vordemfelde turned the company into a leading manufacturer of menswear. In 1949 the company's own building was finished. In 1965 a modern administration building was added.
Market leader
From 1970 Friedrich-Wilhelm Vordemfelde had developed WILVORST into the market leader for festive menswear and he invented the system of warehousing for mix&match suits. From 1982 he was the mayor of Northeim for five years, afterwards he was made an honorary citizen of the town.
The 80s
In 1983 Dr. Karl-Wilhelm Vordemfelde joined the company Wilhelm Vordemfelde KG and refounded the company WILVORST Herrenmoden GmbH. Big projects of his time as the manager were amongst others the Denver-Collection by WILVORST with the celebrities of the TV series 'Denver Clan' (original title of the season was 'Dynasty') which was launched in 1985. In 2007 Dr. Vordemfelde celebrated his 25th anniversary with the company. In 2018 Dr. Karl-Wilhelm Vordemfelde retired and has since been a minority shareholder of WILVORST.
Internationalisation
In 1993 and in the course of internationalistion WILVORST found a strong partner in the Brinkmann group from Herford, today bugatti Holding Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG. Still today bugatti Holding is the majority shareholder of WILVORST. The former manager Dr. Karl-Wilhelm Vordemfelde is still a minority shareholder of WILVORST.
ROYAL
WILVORST enlarged its offer by the TZIACCO collection. This young collection under the slogan "ENJOY YOURSELF" offered casual outfits to young and fashion-conscious men for weddings and events. Now the TZIACCO label - the New Menswear of festive clothing - stands for royal wedding suits for princes charming.
Expansion
In 2010 WILVORST integrated the collections atelier torino and Corpus Line by Odermark from the company Odermark Bekleidungswerke in Goslar. atelier torino stands for semi-festive looks and two style worlds. Corpus Line by WILVORST represents high-quality, individual, customised made-to-measure clothing.
Sustainability
In 2018 WILVORST started a new style world: WILVORST Green Wedding. The first collection by WILVORST that has focused on natural and sustainable outer fabrics, linings and buttons. Since then this collection has been continuously developed and refined.
Future
In 2022 WILVORST presented its new collections on the market. After the difficult year 2020 the specialist trade fair Interbride took place again in Düsseldorf in July 2021. WILVORST has started the wedding years 2023/2024 with a lot of new ideas, excellent wedding suit collections and an innovative concept.
