Founding of WILVORST
On February 16, 1916, the successful and now over 100-year history of WILVORST began: Wilhelm Vordemfelde took over the company of his former employer in Stettin.
The name WILVORST was also created at this moment – and is an acronym made up of the founder's name and the company's location at the time: WILhelm VORdemfelde STettin.
Even then, a philosophy was at the center that defines WILVORST to this day: high-quality fabrics, committed employees, and a pursuit of perfection down to the smallest detail. Over the decades, this understanding of quality has developed into a special expertise in formal menswear – and a passion for dressing people for life's great and unforgettable moments.
Fresh start in Northeim
1946 marks the beginning of a new chapter for WILVORST. Together with around 50 employees from Stettin, Wilhelm Vordemfelde ventured a fresh start in Northeim near Göttingen, creating the foundation for the company's further development there.
By 1949, the company’s own building was already completed – an important milestone for the new location. In the following decades, his nephew, Friedrich-Wilhelm Vordemfelde, continued to lead the company and developed WILVORST into a leading manufacturer in the menswear industry. The continuous growth also became visible at the site: in 1965, a modern administrative building was added to the company headquarters in Northeim.
New impulses
1983 marks the beginning of another chapter in the history of WILVORST: Dr. Karl-Wilhelm Vordemfelde joins Wilhelm Vordemfelde KG and plays a decisive role in shaping the further development of the family business. During this period, the company is also renamed to today's WILVORST Herrenmoden GmbH.
Among the special projects during his time as managing director is the "Denver-Collection by WILVORST." Inspired by the successful television series Dynasty and staged together with its stars, the collection is launched on the market in 1985.
In 2007, Dr. Karl-Wilhelm Vordemfelde celebrates his 25th work anniversary. Until his retirement at the end of 2018, he shapes the development of WILVORST over many decades.
Growing internationally together
With the increasing internationalization of WILVORST, another important chapter in the company's history began in 1993. In the Brinkmann Group from Herford, WILVORST found a strong partner for the further development and international positioning of the brand.
The current bugatti Holding Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG emerged from the former Brinkmann Group. To this day, WILVORST remains majority-owned by the bugatti Holding, thereby combining the strength of an established corporate group with its own identity and long-standing tradition as a specialist in formal menswear.
In 2022, the bugatti Holding celebrated its 75th anniversary.
Growth in the brand portfolio
With the launch of TZIACCO in 2000, WILVORST expanded its brand world to include a young, fashionable interpretation of festive menswear. Under the motto "ENJOY YOURSELF," the collection was initially aimed at fashion-conscious men who wanted to celebrate weddings and events in a more individual and casual way.
Over the years, TZIACCO has developed an increasingly distinct signature style. Today, the line represents the extravagant and royal side of wedding wear.
Brand portfolio continues to grow
In 2010, WILVORST expanded its brand portfolio with two additional collections: ATELIER TORINO and Corpus Line by Odermark were integrated from the Odermark clothing factories in Goslar, opening up new worlds of style and products for the company.
Since then, ATELIER TORINO has complemented the portfolio with modern, semi-formal looks. Today, the brand stands for contemporary elegance with versatile combination options – from the first suit to the next big celebration.
New WILVORST Management
A new chapter for WILVORST: Since 2026, the company has been jointly managed by Stefan Kohlmann and Frank Ullrich-Cattien. With clearly defined areas of responsibility and a shared vision, the new dual leadership is driving the strategic further development and internationalization of the brand.
Stefan Kohlmann, Managing Director at WILVORST since 2017, is responsible for Finance, HR, and Operations. Frank Ullrich-Cattien brings more than two decades of experience in international menswear purchasing as well as in the development and production of private labels, and is responsible for Sales, Purchasing, and Marketing.
Together with the entire WILVORST team, both Managing Directors are providing new impetus for the collection, brand, quality, processes, and international markets – always based on the company's heritage.
House of Celebration
The future of WILVORST is born from over 100 years of tradition. The House of Celebration marks the beginning of a new chapter in the brand's world – more modern, more emotional, and consistently focused on life's most special moments.
The idea behind it is as clear as it is timeless: people come together to celebrate. Weddings, black-tie events, balls, special parties, or personal milestones – it is precisely for these moments that WILVORST develops high-quality celebration wear that combines elegance with personality.
In doing so, WILVORST creates diverse looks for diverse personalities and occasions – united by a shared vision: "We dress people for unforgettable moments – where elegance meets emotion."
Die Geschichte geht weiter
In 2027, WILVORST celebrates 111 years of company history – marking more than a century full of tradition, change, and special moments.
With the House of Celebration, the focus is clearly on the future. New ideas, modern celebration wear, and the ongoing development of our brand world combine 111 years of experience with the aspiration to constantly reimagine formal fashion.
What began in 1916 continues in 2027. 111 years of WILVORST. And the next chapters are already waiting.
Stay tuned.
